At least 18,991 deaths have been reported in Turkey, while 3,377 people have died in Syria. The death toll is likely to keep rising.



The death toll from the magnitude 7.8 earthquake and its aftershocks that hit southeastern Turkey along its border with Syria continues to rise.

The first earthquake occurred at 4:00 am.

5 p.m. (01:

17 GMT on Monday) focused on the Pazarcik district of Kahramammaras province. Less than 12 hours later, her second tremor of magnitude 7.6 hit the same area. More than 100 aftershocks were recorded after the shaking, and authorities urged people not to risk entering the damaged buildings.
